The 1st Healthy School Summit and Seminar on Applied Research on Material Selection System for Healthy School Construction, a key project of the Ministry of Education during the 13th 5-year plan period hosted by the Healthy School Research Group and organized by Innovative Application Technical Committee of China Green Building Materials Industry Development Alliance was successfully held in Beijing from October 17 to 18, during which Maco Group was selected among the “Ten Best Practice Cases of Healthy Campus 2019” for its excellence environmental performance.
“People’s health is an important indicator for a thriving nation and a prosperous country”, stated President Xi Jinping, identifying “Healthy China” as a fundamental strategy of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era. “The power of a nation is in its young generation”, the health of students is increasingly attracting public attention and concern as they represent the future of China. To this end, the Ministry of Education approved “Research Project on Indicator System for Healthy School Construction in the Context of Healthy China” (approval No. DLA170428) as a key project during the 13th 5-year plan period, and hosted the 1st Healthy School Summit. Prof. Wang Xiaoyang at Qinghua University, Deputy Leader of the Research Group and Dean of School of Higher Education, Institute of Education, Tsinghua University, Tong Xue, Former Director of Administration Office of National Teachers’ Research Fund and expert member of the research group, Zhao Jingyu, Deputy Chair of China Green Building Materials Industry Development Alliance and Vice Director of China Building Materials News, among other experts and scholars attended and spoke at the seminar on the research project.
School is where children, teenagers and faculty members spend most of their time learning and developing, hence plays a relevant role in their physical and mental health, and the eco-friendliness of campus is key to healthy development of children and teenagers. Building materials as the basic material support for campus construction are directly associated with health impact and indoor environmental quality. Therefore, the importance using eco-friendly building materials to build a healthy campus and create a better learning environment for children and teenagers is self-evident. In June 2019, Maco became the first Chinese enterprise in auxiliary materials industry whose entire wall putty product series is certified by CTC as safe for children. In July, all Maco products successfully obtained the world’s four leading environmental certification with consumer commitment of world-class environmental protection. A new benchmark in eco-friendliness for auxiliary materials industry for interior design, this represents a significant step for Maco and the entire industry as well. In August, Maco received the plaque for “Official Materials Supplier for China Pavilion for 2020 Dubai World Expo”.
During the seminar, Ao Juan, Director of Green Construction Materials Application Office, China Construction Materials News published “Ten Best Practice Cases of Healthy Campus 2019”, into which Maco was selected for its world-class environmental quality and excellence in CSR throughout the years. The presentation on Maco products accredited with the world’s four leading environmental certification won recognition and positive comments from expert and officials attending the seminar. Children and teenagers are the future of our country and nation, and the selection for “Ten Best Practices of Healthy Campus 2019” was another recognition for Maco, which will further motivate Maco to fulfill its mission and stick to the principle of green, eco-friendliness and intelligent manufacturing, building a globally competitive Chinese brand and bringing world-class environmental quality to Chinese consumers.
